Market and competitor research for smarter marketing
We are a digital market research company: we measure search demand for your services, map what competitors do in search, ads and reviews, and show you where the openings are, before you spend.
What we research
Market and competitor research for local service businesses
Before you spend on a new service, a new city or a new channel, it helps to know what demand already exists and who you will compete with. We research four things:
Search demand
How many people search for each of your services, in which cities, and how that changes through the year.
Competitor SEO
Who ranks for the searches that matter, which pages bring them traffic, and where they are weak.
Competitor ads
Who advertises on your keywords, what offers and messages they use, and where they send the click.
Reviews and reputation
How competitors' ratings and review counts compare with yours, and what customers praise or complain about.
What we do not do
What our market research does not include
We are clear about this so you do not hire the wrong kind of firm. We do not run consumer surveys, panels, focus groups or interviews, and we do not sell industry reports. If you need that kind of primary research, a dedicated research firm is the better choice, and we are happy to work from its findings.
How it works
How a market research project works
Define the questions
What decision the research should support: a new location, a new service, a budget split or a competitor you keep losing to.
Collect the data
Search demand, rankings, ads and reviews for your services, cities and named competitors, with dates and sources.
Find the gaps
Searches with demand and weak competition, offers competitors do not make, and complaints you can solve better.
Report and walk through it
A written report and a call to go through what it means for your plans.
What you get
What the report includes
- Demand tables by service and city, with monthly search volume and seasonality
- A competitor map: who ranks, who advertises and who leads on reviews, side by side
- Gaps and opportunities, ranked by size and how hard they will be to win
- Sources and dates for every number, so the report can be checked and repeated
How it is used
How clients use the research
Common uses include choosing which city to open or target next, deciding which services deserve their own pages or ad campaigns, setting a realistic ad budget from real search volume, and understanding why a specific competitor keeps winning. The research also becomes the starting point for SEO services and Google Ads work.
Who it is for
A good fit if you
- Plan a new location, service or market and want to size it first
- Keep losing customers to the same competitors and want to know why
- Want a budget based on real demand, not guesses
FAQ
Market research FAQ
What kind of market research company are you?
A digital one. We research how your market searches, advertises and reviews online, using search and competitor data. We do not run surveys, panels or focus groups.
Where does the data come from?
Search demand and competitor data from professional SEO tools such as DataForSEO, public ad libraries, review sites and your own Google Search Console and Analytics when you share access. Every number in the report names its source and date.
Can you research a new city or service before we launch?
Yes. That is one of the most useful times to do it: you see how many people search for the service in that area, who already ranks and advertises, and what it would take to compete, before you spend on it.
How is this different from marketing strategy?
Market research answers what is happening in your market. Marketing strategy uses that research, plus your own data and goals, to decide what to do about it. Research is often the first step of a strategy engagement.
How long does it take?
It depends on the number of services, cities and competitors. Your proposal states the scope and timeline before work starts.
