The standard uses markdown files (.md) that duplicate existing pages, containing only the main content. Google’s John Mueller has expressed concerns about the potential misuse of this standard, noting that unethical SEOs might manipulate the content of llms.txt pages.
Currently, it seems more practical for LLMs to extract content from regular web pages. LLMs are not actively seeking these pages, and they will likely continue using standard web pages.
